Distribution of zeros of non-tame families of L-functions

Non-tame sequences of number fields (respectively curves over finite fields) whose degrees grow as fast as the log of their discriminant/conductor (respectively whose gonality grows as fast as their genera), can have exotic distribution for their zeros. We review these features and discuss them in the context of more general L-functions and their analytic conductors.
