The Grothendieckian Approach: Between Unity, Expression and Form

By Mateo Carmona

Appears in collection : Les mathématiques comme expérience artistique

We present, from a global point of view, on the one hand, how Grothendieck’s distinctive approach was centered on a masterful and creative use of language, and on the other, how the diversity of his topics and interests is deeply connected by an inner unifying breath of authenticity. In the context of the conference theme, ‘mathematics as an artistic experience’, we will explore Grothendieck as a mathematician of human itinerary.
