Introduction to Transcendental Number Theory (part 1/8)

This course includes a historical survey of transcendental number theory, as well as some of the most important open problems. Connection with Diophantine approximation is discussed. The proofs of some results are outlined; emphasis is on the ideas and not on technical details.
