Collection 2023 - T1B - Random processes in the brain: from experimental data to math and back
The present thematic program was an initiative of the group of researchers that founded the NeuroMat project (https://neuromat.numec.prp.usp.br/). It quickly gained the support of a wide circle of distinguished researchers, including members of the European Human Brain Project, of the NeuroMod Institut of the Université Côte d’Azur and of the American BRAIN Initiative. As a result, the present proposal is underwritten by a selected group of leading researchers with overlapping interest in Mathematics and Neuroscience.
The scientific project focuses on two complementary aspects, one microscopic – the study of evolving systems of spiking neurons – and another macroscopic – the study of structural learning in the brain –, connected by the notion of brain plasticity. These topics are on the frontline of current research.
