David Ruelle[lien page web : http://www.ihes.fr/~ruelle/] est physicien théoricien. Il a été professeur permanent à l’IHES depuis 1964 jusqu’à sa retraite en 2000 . Il est aujourd’hui professeur émérite à l’IHES. Ses travaux portent sur la théorie quantique des champs, la mécanique statistique de l’équilibre et surtout du non-équilibre, les systèmes dynamiques, la mécanique des fluides.
