The aim of the conference Group Operator Algebras and Noncommutative Geometry is two-fold. On the one hand, we want to bring together mathematicians working in the areas of: Group Operator Algebras, that is, C∗-algebras and von Neumann algebras arising from analytic, ergodic and geometric group theory. This topic has connections with discrete subgroups of semisimple Lie groups, totally disconnected groups, topological dynamics, ergodic theory and noncommutative harmonic analysis to name a few. Noncommutative Geometry, that is, C∗-algebras arising from groupoids. With main focus being applications to analytic and geometric questions around pseudodifferential operators and foliations

On the other hand, we want to promote the field of Operator Algebras in France and beyond towards PhD students and Postdocs. In that respect, the conference will feature two mini-courses (4h) on each theme. These mini-courses will be geared towards PhD students and Postdocs. The conference will also feature around 10-12 plenary talks by established researchers and short talks by PhD students and Postdocs. This conference will also be the annual event of the GDR Géométrie non commutative.
