Fast, high fidelity control in spectrally crowded systems

Quantum information technologies rely crucially on the ability to control quantum systems with unprecedented accuracy. There are inherent challenges in achieving such a high degree of control, among which is the competition between selectivity (leading to slow control) and decoherence (requiring fast control). This effect is even more pronounced in multiqubit systems, where there is an additional competition between the need for strong enough interactions to achieve entangling operations and the requirement that the qubits are isolated enough and well-defined. I will present our ideas on addressing these challenges, which is based mostly on analytical approaches, and will show explicit results for superconducting qubit systems.
