Motivic nearby cycles

After a recap on some aspects of motivic sheaves, I will report on joint work with Robert Cass and Thibaud van den Hove on unipotent nearby cycles and their application in a motivic rendition of Gaitsgory's central sheaves functor. I will then talk about some ideas (in progress, with Timo Richarz) concerning the situation over function fields.
