Differential equations for the distribution of ground states in JT gravity - Part 1

De Clifford Johnson

Apparaît dans la collection : 2023 - T1A - WS2 - Tensor models and holography

Studying the random matrix model of JT gravity non-perturbatively reveals highly instructive data about the model that suggest a re-thinking of how it is to be fully interpreted. A Wignerian or "spectroscopic" approach is emphasized, as a supplement to the usual 't Hooftian approach that focuses on smooth random surfaces. It recasts the RMM as an effective tool for studying the statistics of spectra consistent with perturbative JT information, rather than a fundamental quantum definition of the gravity theory. As a result, 2D holography is entirely consistent with standard AdS/CFT in higher dimensions. This talk describes the techniques used to uncover the details of the underlying discrete spectra, and in particular shows how to derive a differential equation that describes the ground state distribution.
