Lifting Galois representations

I will discuss the problem of producing lifts of a mod p representation of a local or global Galois group to characteristic zero. This will involve the Khare-Witenberg method, and moduli stacks of $(\phi, \Gamma)$-modules. Joint work with Mattheuw Emerton.
